Customer testimonials

“Many thanks to all the team for getting me on the road and particularly to Ian for helping to keep me there. I really appreciate the prompt response to my cry for help and the incredibly early start to get here so quickly.

Thanks.”

“Everyone at Sirus has been helpful, friendly and knowledgeable; you really feel like you are the most important person in the world to every person you speak to there. Sirus is exceptional.

I would be no closer to solving my mobility needs if I hadn’t spoken to them: instead I have the solution which both best meet my needs and which I could afford.”

Bethann Siviter, Oldbury.

“Even when we dropped by the Sirus factory without an appointment, Simon the Managing Director gave us a guided tour of the whole conversion workshop.

You feel like part of a family when you purchase one of their cars. The whole team is interconnected, either as friends or associates, so that personal, caring touch with great communication always comes across to customers like me.

I can honestly say that if you live with MS, a Sirus car can improve your independence no end.”

Margaret Edwards, Birmingham

Margaret Edwards, 65 from Kings Norton, Birmingham, is a full-time powered wheelchair user with Multiple Sclerosis, who has been able to continue holidaying on The Queen’s Sandringham Estate, thanks to a specially converted Sirus car.

Margaret has been married to Stephen (71) for 45 years and when they both retired, they had more time to enjoy holidays and day out. However as Margaret’s MS progressed, the ability to travel in the car became increasingly difficult, as transferring out of her powerchair and onto a car seat was not possible. They previously purchased an adapted mobility car that allowed Margaret to drive her powered wheelchair into the rear via a ramp. She was then secured in the back however when Margaret travelled, she felt unwell and isolated from her husband in the driving seat. She could not see out of the windows and the overall experience of being in the car was unpleasant, hence travelling further afield had to stop.

Located on The Queen’s Sandringham Estate, Margaret had previously holidayed at the award winning Parkhouse Hotel in Norfolk that caters for disabled guests and their carers. The Queen rents this Victorian country house to the Leonard Cheshire Disability Charity for £1 per year so that it can provide fully accessible accommodation all year round. However the ability for Margaret and her husband to reach this holiday destination again was impossible, until they discovered a new type of wheelchair accessible car – the Fiat ‘Future’ Wheelchair Passenger Up Front solution from Sirus Automotive. Margaret and Stephen received the first ever production model to be produced by Sirus, which is adapted from a standard Fiat Qubo. Once they took delivery of this remarkable new car, Margaret knew she would be able once more to travel to Norfolk without experiencing sickness and discomfort.

Margaret explains: “We first discovered Sirus at the NEC’s Naidex exhibition where they had several of their latest converted cars on display. The Future hadn’t been launched at that stage but the friendly Sirus staff explained the huge benefits it could offer, especially regarding my ability to travel upfront. Well, once the model was released we were privileged to take ownership of the very first Future converted by Sirus – it immediately changed our lives. I could travel alongside my husband so chatting and interaction was far easier, my visibility was dramatically improved and I no longer experienced travel sickness. Despite my MS, I had always strived to remain mobile, our Fiat Future opened up a whole new world for us as travelling in the car was now a joy.”

Also located close to Margaret in the West Midlands, Wednesbury’s Sirus Automotive is a highly respected vehicle conversion specialist that provides safe independence to wheelchair drivers and passengers. Based on the Fiat Qubo, their ‘Future’ model is a unique conversion that allows the

wheelchair user to travel up front next to the driver instead of a standard, commonly isolated position in the rear. This specially adapted vehicle also allows disabled passengers to travel from the comfort of their own wheelchair. The disabled passenger enters the car via a rear ramp and then easily manoeuvres their wheelchair into the up front passenger position. The compact, fuel-efficient Future has a lowered internal floor so that maximum head height is provided for the wheelchair user. In addition to vehicles, Sirus provides a range of wheelchair locking restraints, manual tie-down systems and fully automated locking devices that are easy to use – saving drivers both time and energy.

Margaret continues: “Stephen and I are never in. We drive to lots of scenic places locally and when we re-visited the West Midlands Safari Park recently, it was so great to sit up front together, a totally different experience.  We are so happy to have booked to return to the superb Parkhouse hotel as its disabled facilities make our holidays much easier. When Stephen and I are there, we are able to truly relax and appreciate the beautiful surroundings, all so positive for our wellbeing. The hotel is still owned by The Queen and stands in such scenic rolling parkland, being able to spend time once more on the Sandringham Estate gives us a real feel good factor.”

Margaret concludes: “Without my Fiat ‘Future’ and the support of Sirus, being able to go out so much and travel further afield would never have been possible. Sirus are such a customer-orientated company you feel like part of a family when you purchase one of their cars. The whole team is interconnected either as friends or associates so that personal, caring touch, with great communication, always comes across to customers like me. Even when we dropped by at the Sirus factory without an appointment, Simon the Managing Director gave us a guided tour of the whole conversion workshop. I can honestly say if you live with MS, a Sirus car can improve your independence no end.”
