Mobility car exhibitions 2023 – our review so far and what is to come this summer

Motability One Big Days and The Big Events

Motability’s events are about to kick off, with the first (and the biggest) being held at Birmingham’s NEC on 19^th and 20^th May. Free to enter, these disability car events are the ideal opportunity to find your ideal Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle, scooters and powered wheelchairs and find out everything you need to know about joining the Motability Scheme. No need to pre-book, just turn up. You can bring the family too! You can also enjoy free parking.

2023 review so far

Naidex 2023

2023 mobility car exhibition season is well underway. We have been busy showing our brand new Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle, the Ford Drive/Upfront, and our brand-new Wheelchair Accessible Car – the Dacia Jogger Rear Passenger. Having missed last year’s exhibition due to chassis supply, this was the first event that really felt like pre-coronavirus days. From the minute it opened, there was a real buzz around the show. We welcomed so many new and existing customers to our stand, many who had heard about our new range of Ford Wheelchair Accessible Mobility Vehicles and our brand-new Dacia Jogger Wheelchair Accessible Car. Our range of Ford WAV cars now includes solutions for disabled drivers (Drive From Wheelchair and Internal Transfer options) and upfront passengers with the option of side or rear entry. We also met many people who had a standard car and were looking for steering wheel aids such as push/pull hand controls. You can find out more about our car adaptations and steering aids here.

Friends and industry colleagues

We had two cars on the stand and the team were out in force! Being a local show to us, it is brilliant to see so many familiar faces, including industry colleagues, our old friend Paul (below) from the Albion Foundation and customers old and new. We met Kim Smith (below) who will be back on the road soon in her VW Drive From Wheelchair.

Delivery dates in just 1-2 weeks

Having experienced a number of issues with vehicle supply since the pandemic, we are now in a fortunate position to be able to offer delivery in just a matter of weeks. Currently we can deliver a Dacia Jogger Rear Passenger immediately. If you need a vehicle sooner, find out more about our Approved Used Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles. Dacia Jogger wins Best in Show Award 2023

At the end of day one we were delighted to be told by Tom Jamison, editor of Able Magazine our brand-new Dacia Jogger Wheelchair Accessible Car was awarded Able Magazine Best in Show Award 2023. Selected from all of the products and mobility solutions at this year’s Naidex, our latest project was chosen for its unique design, currently the UK’s only wheelchair accessible, family friendly car.

Simon Pearson, Managing Director commented, “We are delighted to win this award and receive recognition for our Dacia Jogger Wheelchair Accessible Car. I would like to congratulate the Sirus team for their hard work bringing this product to market and to Dacia for their ongoing support”.

With Naidex in its 50^th year, they went all out to invite many fantastic guest speakers and disability charities, including Samantha Renke, Disability Consultant and Broadcaster, Ellie Simmons OBE, Paralympian swimmer and multiple gold medal winner, Jennie Berrie, Disability Travel Writer and the fantastic Born to Perform Dance School, amongst others. We loved welcoming Samantha to our stand who tried out our Ford Drive/Upfront Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle.

We hope Naidex 2024 is just as busy as we welcome back with open arms events, exhibitions and normality to our lives.

Kidz to Adults in the Middle – Coventry

The first exhibition of the year, Kidz to Adults in the Middle exhibition was held at Coventry Building Society Arena. This was the first time we exhibited our brand- new Dacia Jogger Wheelchair Accessible Car. Gavin and Teagan were there to welcome visitors and demonstrate our eagerly awaited accessible car. We had a great response, not only because of the popularity of the Dacia Jogger, but due to the design of the conversion. Our engineers have designed the Wheelchair Accessible Car so that the wheelchair user sits alongside the other rear passenger when the two seats are folded down, a great feature to ensure inclusion for children.

Space for up to six people in the Dacia wheelchair accessible car

The Sirus Dacia Rear Passenger is designed to give you space for up to six people as standard – driver, front passenger, one wheelchair passenger and three rear passengers*. You can easily fold away one, two or three of the rear seats giving you flexibility and choice, making it the perfect family Wheelchair Accessible Car.
