“The independence that my Sirus cars have given me is unbelievable, I wouldn’t be able to do my job without it”.

Rebecca has been a Sirus customer for ten years and has taken delivery of her second Drive From Wheelchair vehicle. Rebecca tells us about how important driving is to her and what it’s like to travel upfront as a passenger for the first time.

“I received my brand-new wheelchair accessible vehicle yesterday and I am so happy! I drove myself to work this morning. The independence that my Sirus cars have given me is unbelievable, I wouldn’t be able to do my job without it.

Nothing beats being able to get around without having to ask for lifts and relying on people when they also have their own commitments, and we all know how unreliable public transport is!

Drive From Whelchair adventures

Driving myself when meeting up with friends for lunch and our regular cinema trips is also a huge bonus. I have had my previous Sirus Drive From Wheelchair for ten years and it has been on many adventures with me. Two holidays to the south of France, two Cornwall holidays and many trips to our caravan in Wales!

Travelling upfront as a passenger

Travelling up front is amazing, chatting with my family and being more involved with conversations as I struggled to hear when sat in the back of my previous car. I can also take music control duty because it’s my phone that’s connected to my new Apple CarPlay!

Driving adaptations

I have high tech controls fitted and drive using a Paravan system installed by Elap. I have a little mini wheel and push/pull accelerator brake. These work perfectly for me as I have Muscular Dystrophy so don’t have the strength to use a standard steering wheel, and drive directly from my wheelchair.

Motability Grants

I used Motability to help fund my Motability Advance Payment Grant. I used this for both of my Sirus Drive From Wheelchair vehicles. Find out more about Motability Grants.

The customer service I have received from Sirus from day one has always been fantastic. Any problems have always been sorted quickly and I am extremely happy that I can use this fantastic company for my second car!
