“My accident happened way back in 1994, which left me leaving me with C5/C6 complete spinal injury.  In 2009 a friend of mine, also a wheelchair user told me about Sirus and how driving would make a big difference to life living with a spinal cord injury. So I enquired about their Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAV) – in particular their range of Approved Used WAV’s.

I purchased a Drive From Wheelchair Renault Kangoo from Sirus, which immediately helped me to gain a higher level of independence in life.

After a year of lessons and working on my driving adaptations, I gained my driving licence and it felt like an unreal achievement. This process took one year and eight months but with perseverance, I managed what I thought was unthinkable. I started going to work on my own and helping my wife to do errands and chores. I was also able to do some things for myself such as going on training courses and joining the gym.

Freedom and independence

The biggest thing for me when it came to driving from my wheelchair was when I realised how much I could contribute to my relationship and my family. Having a Sirus Used WAV gave me freedom.
