VW / Ford Alliance
The all-new Ford Grand Tourneo Connect was developed as part of the Ford-Volkswagen alliance. The two signed an agreement that will involve Ford re-badging some of the German firm’s passenger-carrying models while VW will do the same with many of Ford’s commercial vehicles.
The engineering and manufacturing is led by Volkswagen, working in close partnership with Ford’s design team, which created the Tourneo Connect’s unique exterior and interior design features.
Car Reviews
Auto Express
“It might be a rebadging exercise, but Ford’s Grand Tourneo Connect version of the VW Caddy is an impressive vehicle that offers incredible practicality, strong efficiency, decent value and strong tech”. Read more from Auto Express.
What Car?
“You could see this latest Ford Tourneo Connect as a re-badged variant of another brand’s van-based MPV but that would be to sell it short. It’s true that as its starting point for the Tourneo Connect, Ford took the rival VW Caddy – but we’ve given this car four stars against the Caddy’s three.
The Ford Tourneo Connect is a step ahead of the mechanically similar VW Caddy here, because as well as that car’s range of adjustments in the seat and steering wheel, it also has adjustable lumbar support as standard. Likewise, front and rear parking sensors are standard on the Tourneo Connect, whereas you’ll have to go for pricier Life trim in the Caddy to get them”. Read more from What Car?
Auto Car Review
“How obvious are the Volkswagen links? Ford has done a good job of giving the front end a different ‘face’ (far more than some badge engineers have bothered with lately), if the side profile and even the tailgate remain untouched”. Read more from Auto Car.
