Ford wheelchair accessible vehicles

Our range of new and Approved Used wheelchair accessible vehicles includes the Ford Connect WAV. When choosing Ford wheelchair accessible vehicles with us, there are three options available. Let’s take a look at each of these.

Ford Connect WAV combined drive/upfront

Our latest Ford conversion offers two options. You can drive from your wheelchair and switch to an upfront passenger. Our interchangeable front seats enable you to share the driving and you can switch places on your journey. You can also choose a dedicated upfront passenger solution, where you can enjoy travelling in the front next to the driver. Find out more about our combined drive/upfront wav.

Ford Connect WAV internal transfer

This WAV provides entry to the vehicle from the rear. You can then secure your wheelchair safely inside the vehicle and transfer across to a standard Ford driver’s seat using a powered six-way seat. This means you can drive from the OEM seat without transferring by the roadside. You can also secure your wheelchair safely inside the vehicle without having to dismantle or lift it. Ford Connect WAV upfront passenger

This conversion is designed to allow you to travel as an upfront passenger from the comfort of your wheelchair. This provides a more sociable way to travel and means you can easily chat with the driver. You can also control the music and have better views from your wheelchair accessible vehicle. Features of the Ford Connect WAV

Eco Boost Petrol Engine

A 7-speed Powershift Auto gearbox ensures outstanding power plus direct fuel injection with remarkable efficiency. The auto-engine with direct fuel injection ensures both performance and economy. Which makes it an ideal choice for those seeking a balance between power and fuel efficiency when choosing new or used wheelchair accessible vehicles. The vehicle offers fuel consumption of 48-49mpg*. *Based on an unconverted vehicle.

Active Park Assist

The Ford Connect comes with Active Park Assist to take the hassle out of parking your WAV. It can effortlessly help you parallel park at the push of a button and its sensors can help you locate a suitable space as you drive past. The system will automatically steer you into the space, all you need to do is follow the onscreen instructions and audible signals to operate the accelerator, gears and brakes.

Pre-Collision Assist

This safety feature on the Ford Connect detects vehicles and pedestrians in the road ahead, or those who could cross your path and warns you of the potential hazard. If you do not respond, the Ford Connect will apply the brakes to prevent a potential collision. The technology is designed to work at speeds up to 50mph.

Fully automated tailgate and ramp

Our drive/upfront and internal transfer models are designed with an automated tailgate and ramp, ensuring complete independence. The key fob opens the tailgate and ramp, and you can safely enter the vehicle using the shallow ramp. Once you are comfortably in the driver position, simply press a button on the dashboard or the key fob, and the tailgate and ramp will close.

Low, anti-slip ramp

Our automated ramp is below 11 degrees, ensuring you can enter and exit with ease with our drive/upfront and internal transfer models. The ramp is designed with an anti-slip coating, improving wheel traction in wet weather. The interior floor is also designed with an anti-slip material.

Side entry on upfront passenger model

Our side entry Ford WAV design allows you to easily enter and exit from the side via a manual ramp and sliding door. A side entry design also means you can enjoy the benefits of three rear seats as standard as well as an unmodified boot. The ramp and interior floor are designed with an anti-slip coating, improving wheel traction in wet weather.

E-Vehicles

We are asked often about electric wheelchair accessible vehicles. Please rest assured our R&D team are doing everything they can to find a solution for hybrid and EVs. The current conversion process involves lowering the vehicle floor in order to create enough internal headroom for wheelchair users to travel comfortably. We will keep you informed of our progress.
