From Concept to Reality: The Process Behind Wheelchair Accessible Cars
If you are considering purchasing a wheelchair accessible vehicle, you may wonder how the process works. As a WAV specialist, Sirus offers a wide range of mobility vehicles to help meet your needs and ensure your independence.
Let’s take a look at each step of the process… arranging a demonstration of your mobility car, installing car adaptations, and the aftersales support we offer when you buy a disability car from Sirus.
Book a wheelchair accessible car demonstration
If you are interested in a mobility car for sale with us, we can arrange a free home demonstration for you. This gives you the chance to test drive the vehicle in your local area with one of our mobility specialists. We want you to make sure this is 100% the right mobility car for you before you commit to ordering.
Converting your wheelchair accessible car
The unconverted car/vehicle is purchased directly from the manufacturer. We then carry out the conversion in our factory in Wednesbury, West Midlands. This involves lowering the floor to ensure the wheelchair user has ample headroom. We install any rear seats required and ensure the new trim blends in with the original manufacturer interior. We pride ourselves on the quality and finish of our conversions and are well known in the industry for the ‘Sirus standard’. We design all of our WAVs in house and have a highly skilled R&D team.
Bespoke car adaptations
As a WAV specialist, we can make the necessary car adaptations to help you drive or travel as a passenger in your disability car. We can install wheelchair locking systems for drivers and passengers, whether you are looking for a manual or automated securing system. If you are a driver, we can install a range of adaptations to suit you. Our mobility specialists will work with you to find out exactly what adaptations you require. This could include pedal modifications, hand controls such as push/pull hand controls or infrared controls to operate the wipers, indicators etc.
Ordering your wheelchair accessible car
Ordering your mobility car with us is easy. As a WAV specialist, we can guide you through every step of the ordering process. We can advise you on the different finance routes, whether you intend to use the Motability Scheme, or if you are applying for a Motability grant towards the Advance Payment. Sirus also works with leading finance provider, Mann Island if you prefer to take out a loan and own the car outright at the end of the term. We include free delivery once your wheelchair accessible car is ready. Depending on your spec this can range from 2-12 weeks*.
Aftersales support
Just as we are by your side throughout the demonstration and ordering processes, our dedicated aftersales team will continue to support you. We are incredibly proud of our aftersales service, and all our new wheelchair accessible vehicles come with a three-year warranty on the conversion. We have a team of engineers on the road should you require assistance. This is backed up by a three-year manufacturer warranty.
