Based on the same elements that underpin the VW Golf, this is the first time the VW Caddy Maxi Life has ever shared its basic engineering with passenger car models. It has more digital functions and greater comfort than ever before.
Drive from your wheelchair and switch to upfront passenger whilst on your journey. Our interchangeable front seats enable you to share the driving. The conversion can seat up to four people, with up to two rear fold down seats (one is fitted as standard). The conversion also offers exceptional interior headroom (147cm / 58”).
Our VW Caddy WAV is designed with an automated tailgate and ramp, ensuring complete independence. The key fob opens the tailgate and ramp and you can safely enter the vehicle using the shallow ramp. Once you are comfortably in the driver position, simply press a button on the dashboard or the key fob and the tailgate and ramp will close. Entering and exiting from the rear means you can park in a standard parking space and don’t need a Blue Badge parking bay.
Our automated ramp is below 11 degrees, ensuring you can enter and exit with ease. The ramp is designed with an anti-slip coating, improving wheel traction in wet weather. The interior floor is also designed with an anti-slip material.

Internal Transfer – transfer from your wheelchair to a standard driver’s seat.
The new model includes a wide range of technology, media system and safety upgrades. The vehicle is well-equipped with an ultra-digital and closely integrated high-resolution digital cockpit, an infotainment system with an 8.25inch touchscreen. The ‘Innovision’ digital dash has a configurable electronic display replacing standard dials. Volkswagen We Connect brings a wealth of extras, and the free app turns your smartphone into a remote control.
If your hands are occupied, you can now talk to your new Caddy. The clever Voice Control System allows you to use voice commands to answer phone calls, select a radio station or set a navigation destination. Even the 2-zone Climate control air conditioning system listens to your commands. (Optional at extra cost).
The latest generation of driver assistance systems, including Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Travel Assist with Emergency Assist, and lane change system Side Assist with Rear Traffic Alert. (Optional at extra cost).
The Caddy Maxi Life is designed to look slick and sporty. It features slimline light designs, and a distinctive crease along the body side. High-tech features include LED head and taillamps and there’s also a large panoramic glass sunroof.
There are 19 driver assistance systems available as standard or optional equipment, six of which are entirely new. Standout features include Travel Assist, the autonomous driving assistant which can steer, brake and accelerate for you. There’s also a driver alertness monitor which reminds you to keep your hands on the wheel.
The petrol engine is a 116hp 1.5-litre unit that comes with a particulate filter to cut pollution. The petrol engine comes with a DSG dual-clutch seven-speed automatic gearbox.
