VW / Ford Alliance
The all-new Ford Grand Tourneo Connect was developed as part of the Ford-Volkswagen alliance. The engineering and manufacturing is led by Volkswagen, working in close partnership with Ford’s design team, which created the Tourneo Connect’s unique exterior and interior design features.
The Ford Grand Tourneo Connect is the first fruit of the partnership between the American giant Ford and Volkswagen. The two signed an agreement that will involve Ford re-badging some of the German firm’s passenger-carrying models while VW will do the same with many of Ford’s commercial vehicles. Volkswagen will build the all-new Tourneo Connect at its Poznan Plant in Poland alongside the VW Caddy.
How is the Ford Grand Tourneo Connect different from the VW Caddy?
The all-new Ford Grand Tourneo Connect has an expressive and dynamic Ford design DNA, with a unique exterior and interior design. Key elements that contribute the strong Ford character include design cues shared with the latest Explorer, Puma and Kuga.
Exterior Features
The biggest design change between the Caddy and the Tourneo Connect is at the front where the Ford gets a wider and more pronounced radiator grille, flanked by headlights with integrated C-shaped LED daytime running lights.
Interior Features
Inside the vehicle, the Ford character is reinforced with a dedicated new instrument panel design with unique Ford steering wheel, new seat trims and new door trim grain patterns. Like other Ford passenger cars, the all-new Tourneo Connect also offers a choice of attractive hi-spec series options (Sirus offer the Titanium).
Ford Grand Tourneo Connect Engine
Under the bonnet, the Ford engines are shared with the new Caddy. This includes a 1.5-litre turbocharged gas engine with 114 bhp (85 kilowatts). While Ford calls these units EcoBoost and EcoBlue, respectively, these are essentially Volkswagen’s TSI and TDI four-cylinder engines.
