Sirus celebrate 15th Anniversary

This year Sirus Automotive celebrate our 15th anniversary and are proud be the UK’s leading upfront wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) converter.  Having focused primarily on driver and upfront passenger conversions, we have designed a total of 12 wheelchair accessible vehicles to date. We have helped over 12,000 customers with a wide range of accessible vehicles and adaptations.

Product Innovation

Sirus was established in 2004 with a vision to design high quality, innovate WAV’s, backed up by unrivalled aftersales service. We designed one of the most affordable, compact drive from wheelchair vehicle on the market – the Renault Kangoo. Since then we have continually developed a range of innovative wheelchair accessible vehicles for drivers and passengers.  This year we also honour our VW Caddy Life conversion, which celebrates its 12th year in production.  The popular VW has three different conversion options,  drive from wheelchair, internal transfer and upfront passenger. It has been a huge success for the business and is a firm favourite amongst our customers, many who have returned to us time and time again.

Compact Vehicles

Our conversions are based on compact vehicles. We believe that smaller vehicles are more user-friendly, not to mention more fuel-efficient and lower in Co2 emissions. Our conversions are designed in-house by our highly skilled research and development team and there is an extremely high level of complex engineering required to design and develop a compact vehicle which also offers exceptional quality.

Product Quality

Simon Pearson, Managing Director and founder commented “All of our wheelchair accessible vehicles are designed and manufactured to the highest standard. We take a fresh approach to vehicle conversions with the designs ensuring an excellent level of quality. Our choice of premium materials gives our conversions a really high-quality finish. We place a huge emphasis on new product development to produce innovative, pioneering products, whilst continually refining our existing range”.

Motability Supplier

We have supplied Motability for almost 15 years now, and have Preferred Supplier Status. All of our vehicles are available on the Motability Scheme and many of our customers opt to apply for a charitable grant through the Motability Grants Scheme.

Quality Standards and Accolades

Sirus is proud to have achieved ISO9001 Quality Standard which ensures we have rigorous processes in place throughout the business, covering product quality, build processes, purchasing, sales, recruitment and training. We are also proud to have previously won the Queens Award for Enterprise in the category of innovation as well as a number of awards for business and engineering.

Supporting Our Local Community

We have worked closely with Sandwell College since 2015 recruiting candidates for our apprenticeship programme, training and mentoring young people in our region.  After visiting Sirus, Councillor Simon Hackett Cabinet Member for Children’s Services said: “I am very impressed at the work the company is doing – offering life-changing vehicle adaptions and conversions for people with disabilities. I am also thrilled they are investing so much in young people through apprenticeships. It’s a real testament to Sirus that all of the apprentices have stayed on once they have completed their apprenticeships”. On Monday 12th August 2019, Sirus was named Made In Sandwell’s Monday Company of the Week which is a celebration of the borough’s talent.

Looking to the Future…

Simon continues “We have recently launched our export programme, so now our vehicles are available throughout Europe and as far afield as New Zealand.  Celebrating our 15th anniversary is a great accolade for the Sirus team and its thanks to them that we have been able to help so many people. We look forward to designing innovative vehicle conversions and adaptations for many years to come”.

Just a few of our customer feedback quotes…

“There is a great atmosphere at Sirus, everyone who works there is really happy and I was made to feel so welcome. That must be down to the fact their conversions give people back their freedom and independence”. Mike, Staffordshire

“Thank you to all of you for your kindness, very polite and professional service and your patience. I hope that you as a business, and individually go far, because you deserve to do so.  I’m getting so much more confident at driving, every day it’s lovely to have my freedom again”. Kerry, Yorkshire

“The Sirus VW Drive vehicle is amazing! It not only gives me mobility and independence but appears to be having a positive psychological effect too, allowing me to focus on what I can do, as opposed to what I can’t! I can attend tutorials again and I don’t have to rely on my family to get me from A to B. Vehicles such as the Sirus car may actually help to change the attitude of the able-bodied population towards disabled people!”  Catherine, Suffolk

“I have great confidence in my Sirus car. I now travel alone and feel completely independent. It has made such a difference to my life being able to pop off on my own without an escort”. Shirley, Suffolk
