Your Guide to Mobility Cars – Read our Customers FAQ’s
We have listed some of our most frequently asked questions about mobility cars, also known as wheelchair accessible vehicles. Whether you are looking for a new mobility car or Approved Used, our guide will help you to navigate through the process.
How do mobility cars work?
Mobility cars, (also referred to as wheelchair accessible vehicles or WAV’s) are designed to enable you to travel in your vehicle safely in your wheelchair, with your wheelchair safely secured. We refer to mobility cars as wheelchair accessible vehicles and they are usually derived from commercial vehicles, i.e. the VW Caddy Life, the Ford Grand Tourneo Connect. We select these vehicles in order to allow for maximum space and so that you have good visibility out of the windscreen and windows. We purchase the base vehicle from the manufacturer and carry out the conversion at our factory in the West Midlands. We then fit any bespoke adaptations required to suit you to assist with your driving, or security and comfort if you are travelling as a passenger.
What type of mobility cars can you get at Sirus?
Sirus specialise in upfront wheelchair accessible vehicles and have done so for over 15 years. We design and develop drive from wheelchair, internal transfer and upfront wheelchair passenger vehicles.
Which Sirus mobility cars are available on the Motability Scheme?
Sirus offer a number of our WAV’s on the Motability Scheme. These include:

Approved Used WAV’s

You can also read our guide to purchasing an Approved Used wheelchair accessible vehicle. Approved Used means the car has had an 82 Point RAC Approved Preparation Check (visit the RAC’s website for details) and a vehicle History Check (to determine the number of previous owners, any past issues with the vehicle or any prior accidents). We also include a 2-year RAC Warranty*, 1-year RAC Breakdown Cover (roadside, recovery, at home) and RAC Accident Care (for the duration of your breakdown cover).
Motability Cars

Where do I buy a Motability car?
Sirus can be your first point of call and we can talk you through all of the WAV’s we have on the Motability Contract Hire Scheme. If we don’t have a WAV which is suitable, we will happily recommend another supplier.
